I am not very technical and just getting started. I have a dedicated server with several websites.
1. Do I need CMS for each one of them separately?
2. for the remote site, do I upload 'just the CMS' folder or entire contents.
3. Once this is done, what is the next step?

The CMS manages multiple websites, you only need to have multiple domains or subdomains. Make only one installation of the CMS.
Copy only the content of the directories "CMS", and sets for your hosting service framework 4.0

Afret this you can create a new configuration, one for every you website and begin to publishing.
